This 2-part video series offers basic explanations of some differences between the KYK, Tyent and Melody water ionizers. There are some things I want to point out which are misleading about his conclusions: 

1. His conclusions are wrong and non-scientific. I have corrected them, below. If he would have calculated the rH* this would reveal a more accurate picture of the ionizer's water-quality. See rH (below). If you look on this chart below, I have recorded the pH and ORP that he tested each ionizer at in the video. The next level down on the chart shows the rH. The smaller the rH, the better, so according to these test results, the Melody is best, the Tyent is 2nd best, and the KYK is last. I don't want to say "worst", because they're all good water ionizers.

2. He says that everyone bashes the Melody water ionizer so bad...who bashes it? As far as I know, the Melody appears to be the most popular water ionizer worldwide. Why is he coming up with a statement like this? It seems like a psychological ploy to get people to think there's controversy there. In fact the Melody is a workhorse water ionizer, the Melody water ionizer he's personally testing in this video shows that this Melody (an older model...4 or so years old) is out-performing the other two water ionizers. He seems to be saying all kinds of other people are doing "shameful things", but it sounds like all he's doing is trying to stir up controversy (shame on him).

3. He makes it look like the Melody makes loud music sound all the time, when in fact you can turn it low or turn it off ...set it the way you like, and it will stay that way. I have my music off, myself.

4. He says that the Tyent company has created a lot of deceitful ads and says that they've created a website called "WaterIonizersReviewed.com" & on this website they have given themselves an award that claims they're better. How does he know this? He doesn't state that. I don't trust this statement, and would expect to see proof before anyone would buy these flagrant remarks.

5. He says KYK is number 1 in sales too. If that were true I don't think KYK would be operating with such a small store-front (no big warehouse like Jupiter has) I also think they'd have their website higher in the search engine if they were number 1 in sales. I just don't get it -- saying things without having proof. Where are his facts for this...or any of what he's saying? There are too many un-verified statements. If what he says is true, then let's have him state some verifiable facts -- proof.

6. One thing he should have said is they now have their UL certificate for the Genesis. This would be an important thing for people to know. They have the certificates in hand, but the KYK website hasn't been updated yet to show this. Tyent, on the other hand doesn't have this certification yet. The Melody has had it for years.

*pH means potential Hydrogen and is measured by a logarithmic [each unit is a multiple of 10 of the preceding unit] scale from 1 to 14. When a substance is below 7 on the scale it is said to be acidic. When it's above 7 it's said to be alkaline. The blood is around 7.35 and must stay in a very narrow range of slight alkalinity in order to sustain life.

*ORP means Oxygen Reduction Potential. It basically stands for the proportionate amount of negatively charged [H-] Hydrogen ions existing in a substance. The easiest way to look at is ...it's the anti-oxidant effect that that substance is cabable of giving your body when you drink it.

*rH is “relative Hydrogen”. This test calculation shows the actual health benefits of the water tested. Many now believe that this is the most important factor contributing to good health.  Note: To find rH one uses pH and ORP measurements plugged into a formula. The formula is:  rH = ((ORP + 200) / 30) + (2 * pH). On a scale from 0 to 42 above 28 oxidizing (higher potential to damage the closer it gets to 40) and below 28 is reducing (anti-oxidizing)…the lower the better.  

RH is the best measure of the healthiness of that ionized water. I always consider the rH to be the most important measure to look at in any water ionizer comparison test.

• Here’s an example to help you see why the rH formula is necessary: if you have two water ionizers both producing water at a pH of 9.5, and one has an ORP of -300 and the other has an ORP of -400, then it would be easy to see that the one with -400 is producing water at a healthier overall quality. However, most people testing water ionizers don’t get the exact same pH readings for all the water ionizers tested. So the rH formula is necessary to really see which water ionizer is producing the healthier water. The formula is a very simple one, and anyone comparing water ionizers should look at the rH of the water at the drinking water levels if they are trying to figure out which water ionizer is best. Because ORP is a very tricky measure to get and ORP meters can vary from test to test [depending on how well or frequently they're cleaned, source water and other factors] it’s important to only compare the ORP or rH of water ionizers tested in one setting by the same tester. RH is measured on a scale of 0 to 42, with 0 being the healthiest and 42 the unhealthiest. Tap water in St. Louis is usually around 30 - 35 rH. Any water under 28 rH is considered “reducing” and so is healthy for you.
• “The relative hydrogen scale was first proposed by Clark in 1923 to the scientific community (mostly inorganic chemists) as a means of measuring the true reducing power of hydrogen present in an aqueous solution…”* It is mostly used in water treatment facilities, but I imagine that the water ionizer engineers use it to test their own water ionizer designs. Go to this website to see this article and get a more thorough and scientific explanation of rH: http://h-minus-ion.vpinf.com/rH-score-1.html

• I stumbled upon this when I was debunking the Hydrogen Stick as a supposed solution to the health issues solved with a water ionizer. The Hydrogen Stick people were proporting that Dr. Hayashi believes Hydrogen [H-] has caused greater health benefits than alkalinity. They were saying that the Hydrogen left the ionized water through evaporation very quickly and so within an hour or there-abouts you'd be without the H- benefit if you used ionized water ...and they were claiming that the Hydrogen stick provided more Hydrogen and thus greater health benefits than ionized water. I wanted to test this, so in searching for a way to actually measure the Hydrogen in the water, I found that the way to find the Hydrogen [short of having a $10,000.00 meter] was to use the rH formula and scale to compare two solutions to each-other. The rH scale goes from 0 to 42 and the solution which has an rH closer to 0 is healthier than the other. I then was able to test the Hydrogen Stick water against ionized water. The results were that ionized water had a far better rH [relative Hydrogen] than the Hydrogen Stick, and even after a day of soaking a Hydrogen Stick and ionized water sitting for a day...the ionized water was far better. The Waterman ionizer pitcher [H2go] works on a similar basis as the Hydrogen Stick [except it also filters the water] and it gets a better rH than the Hydrogen Stick. But out of all of these a water ionizer is so much better -- there really is no contest.
