The Concept

Our bodies have a very complex detoxification system designed to eliminate toxins. In general terms our bodies use the kidneys and liver to process the toxins and then excrete them primarily through the lungs and skin. The foods and beverages we eat and drink, the air we breathe, medications, stress, personal hygiene products, synthetics, chemicals found in the home and workplace all contribute to the body's toxic load. This load overwhelms our body's detoxification system and these toxins then accumulate and build up over time. Our body's normal elimination processes are not effective at removing all of them. The modern day adult body has around 400 to 800 man-made chemicals stored in various tissues. This gradual accumulation of toxins can lead to degenerative disease.

The eastern medicine traditions have held the view for hundreds of years that toxins are primarily stored in the feet, furthest away from the vital organs. Being lowest point in the body, the feet have the hardest job of pumping blood back up to the heart. Eastern medicine also understands and purports that toxic accumulation leads to many degenerative diseases and aging. There is an Asian expression that says "aging comes from the foot". In Asian medicine, the feet are considered the second heart, or a "telegraph center" of the body, with over 62 acupuncture or reflexology points relating to the major organs in the body. In general, the top third of the foot relates to the top third of the body organs, the arch relates to organs at the center of the body and the heel relates to the organs in the lower third of the body. "Yong Chwean" is a key point in the sole of the foot in Chinese acupuncture. In Mandarin this is translated as "gushing water spring" and is believed in the Asian traditions to be the primary detoxification point in the foot.

The lymphatic system - body's natural detoxification system - performs most of its detoxification functions during its sleep cycle. Also when we sleep, the body's fluid tends to gather in the head and toes, where the body is already storing the toxins.

How They Work

Acupeds Detoxification Patches are an extremely effective and convenient way to help boost body's own efforts to detoxify and retain balance. The all-natural dry ingredients are formulated to help the body release toxins more effectively. The patch contents start to oxidize after breaking the airtight plastic seal the patches are packaged in. The patches contain tourmaline. Tourmaline emits a form of natural Far Infra Red. This warms the patches up and opens the pores to draw and absorb the accumulated wastes from osmotic pressure through the skin from the blood and lymph systems.

How to use Acupeds

Acupeds Detoxification Patches are an extremely effective and convenient way to help boost body's own efforts to detoxify and retain balance. The all-natural ingredients are formulated into a sterile white sachet about the size of a large tea bag. One sachet is applied to the sole of each foot with an adhesive strip similar to band-aid. The sachets are applied to the feet overnight, when the body detoxifies. When you first put the patches on you will most likely notice a slight warmth or pleasant tingling effect. This is from the tourmaline contained in the patches - and tells you the pad is working. Upon awakening, remove the expired patches, wash your feet and dispose of the expired Acupeds.

You will notice the expired pads come off the feet moist, have turned a darker color and most often have acquired a unique odor. This is from the herbs in the pad. The pad turns color as it absorbs moisture and toxins from your foot - much like a dry tea bag turns color and emits an aroma as it absorbs water. In some cases the color and odor decreases as you detoxify.

How Often to use Acupeds?

The length of the detoxification period varies depending on the individual. For most adults we recommend using Acupeds for ten consecutive days, followed by two or three days break to let the lymphatic system rest and then a second round of ten days with the patches. In more severe cases longer may be required. How often you perform a cleanse is individual, just like any other form of cleansing. We like to coach people to "listen to the wisdom of your body" in determining how often to detoxify using Acupeds. Say for example your round of initial detoxification helps you sleep better and have increased energy (common testimonial). If you notice that you are not sleeping well and have low energy, then it is probably time for another round of detoxify. There are no contraindications from using Acupeds.

From ancient times in Japan, wood was burnt and the art of making charcoal by wood distillation was developed. From the charcoal kiln, smoke billows upward. When this smoke is cooled and condensed, a thick brown /black liquid results. This liquid is raw pyroligneous acid (wood vinegar). This acid has been shown to warm the body, activate the skin, moisturize and act as an antibacterial.

From this raw material, further refining is carried out to remove the tar and any other undesirable elements. The result is a beautiful liquid of a pale yellow color (very weak tea). This liquid is then aged for up to a year to produce the final high quality wood vinegar that can be consumed as a health tonic. It is condensed five times and contains no synthetic vinegar or starch.

After the initial extraction process, the extract is dried for a period of six months. It is then filtered four times using the highest quality Umbamegashi-Binchou Charcoal . It is then dried one more time for an additional six months before it can be considered for use. This process yields a very concentrated extract with an extremely high level of purity.

Wood vinegar and bamboo extract are naturally condensed 5 times until both become a powder. This drying phase lasts for a period of over 8 months and makes for an exceptional purity of product.
