The H3 pre-filter system is the ultimate in water filtration technology. The H3 offers triple protection with a pre-filter set up which is perfect for most all water. It has three stages of heavy-duty, long-lasting filtration.
The H3's triple housing: To hold the filter cartridges in place, a filter housing is needed. The housing includes all of the necessary fittings to connect to the 1/4 inch water supply hose feeding your water ionizer.
The capacity of each filter inside the housing varies according to usage and source water levels of contamination, but is likely to be good for about a year of use. The filter housing itself is good for approximately 7 years or so. Each housing measures 11.5" x 5" x 10"
As a comparison to the C3 Prefilter System: The filters in the H3 are about 25% bigger than those in the C3 and will therefore filter longer and better than the C3. They are also able to be customized, as described below.
The H3 filters can be customized according to your needs. The usual [and default] filters for the H3 Filter System are:
Filter #1: Default: The Chlorine & Chloramine Prefilter [Unit Price: $69.95] which is a blend of activated carbon and KDF 55, super-carbon. This filter is composed of Granulated Active Carbon and Catalytic Carbon, AKA "Super-Carbon", or KDF 55. The most effective way to economically reduce chloramines is through the use of specially designed carbon (catalytic). Our high capacity filter has been designed for up to 1,500 gallons of use. Activated carbon is universally recognized and widely used as an effective adsorbent for a wide variety of organic contaminants, such as herbicides, pesticides, industrial chemicals, and trihalomethanes (THM's). Catalytic Carbon is extremely porous and even better than granular activated carbon [GAC]. It provides the largest surface area of any other filter for contaminants to collect and is the filtration media of choice for removing chloramine, chlorine, & many other toxins.
Filter # 2: Activated Alumina: Activated Alumina is the only reliable filter media for effective fluoride removal. This filter media will remove up to 99% of fluoride, arsenic, & lead. It does so by attracting the fluoride to it, chemically, at which time the fluoride is then trapped forever in the filter. Fluoride is such a small element that it even gets through reverse osmosis and distillation units, however it won't get through this filter once it's bonded to the activated alumina filter media [Unit Price: $39.95] Even if you're not concerned about fluoride, because maybe you have well water or something, you will still be likely to want the Activated Alumina filter, because it is the #1 filtration method for removal of arsenic [which is tasteless and can affect wells seasonally so does not always show up on tests.] It is also an excellent media for the removal of lead, which can show up in wells and causes brain damage.
However you may want to replace filter #2 with the Sediment, E.Coli and Bacteria Filter. [Unit Price: $39.95] or the Nitrate Reduction Cartridge. This can be done simply by selecting the alternate filter you want from the pull-down menu.
Filter # 3: The default for filter #3 is KDF 85, AKA the Sulphur/Iron and Manganese Prefilter. This filter is great for eliminating pharmaceuticals and also utilizes carbon for the reduction of Chlorine, Taste, and Odor. [Unit Price: $89.95]
If you substituted the Bacteria Filter for filter #2 and still want to utilize the Activated Alumina filter media, we suggest that for filter #3 you opt for the Heavy Metal Reduction Cartridge, which contains both Activated Alumina and KDF 85.
Note: Pre-filters usually need to be replaced every 1000 - 1500 gallons (about 1 year on average).
Return Policy on Filters: We sell only the highest quality filters and inspect every batch in our facility. All filter sales are final. There are no refunds on filters for any reason. If a filter was damaged in shipping we will send a replacement and the damaged filter must be returned to us within 10 business days or we must charge full price for it.
