Note: At the time of this writing this post was true, but now I’ve found an even better way to store ionized water, with our new stainless vacuum bottles!
I help people every day to find just the right water ionizer for their budget and health. I hate to see people spend extra money to ensure they are getting the very best water ionizer and then turn around and because they don’t know how to store ionized water they store it in such a way as to lose the pH and ORP benefits unnecessarily.
Using the wrong way to store ionized water wastes money and health benefits!
I’ve tried every single possible way to store ionized water [plastic, glass, stainless] and all kinds of shapes, designs and sizes of water container, and the very best ionized water container I’ve found is a simple mason jar! You can get a dozen mason jars at any store with a housewares department for under $10.00/dozen. If I’m going out for several hours I’ll bring several 16-oz. mason jars in a tote with me. Here’s a picture of what that might look like.
The best way to fill the bottles of ionized water is to over-fill them and carefully cap them in such a way as to try to get no air bubble. When you do this it will maintain the pH and ORP much better.
ORP: Oxidation Reduction Potential [the antioxidant value of the ionized water] tends to degrade with exposure to air of ionized water. ORP is one of the main qualities of ionized water that makes it so healthy. A low negative ORP is what we are looking for. This will give you lots of antioxidants. The lower the better.
You Can Even Store Ionized Water for Several Hours and Even Several Days With Mason Jars
Here you can see a sample of the testing I’ve done with storing ionized water using mason jars. You can see in the following videos that in the even after several days, the Mason jars kept the ionized water’s pH and ORP in desirable ranges. The pH and ORP had dropped, but would be still good and healthy water to drink. Mason jars are made for preserving things, so it does make sense that they are so great for storing ionized water! In these videos I used 32-oz mason jars, but since then I’ve become fond of using the smaller, 16-oz, mason jars, which seem to be just the right size for toting, and drinking.
Ease of Use
Isn’t it just easier and better to get a portable water ionizer and use that when you go out rather than toting mason jars of ionized water?
Actually, it’s so easy to just pour a few jars-worth of ionized water, put them in a tote and go, that I’d say it would be harder to use the portable water ionizers than to do this. Also, you won’t get the pH and ORP benefits from a portable water ionizer even close to what you’ll get from let’s say an Athena water ionizer for example. With a portable water ionizer you might expect a -100 ORP at a 9 pH-level, whereas at the same pH-level with the Athena you might expect a -500 ORP.
Another use for mason jar storage of ionized water is when you want to refrigerate your ionized water.
It may take an hour or so for your water to cool in the refrigerator, and with the proper storage in a mason jar [make sure you fill with no air-bubble] you’ll barely see a difference with the pH and ORP in that time period. Whereas otherwise you may lose half your pH and ORP benefits during that time period.
I have been testing and comparing the new Vesta water ionizer, and I am very impressed with it. The video comparison here in this blog post is the most impressive one so far. Both the Vesta water ionizer and the Enagic Kangen Water SD 501 alkaline water machine will perform water ionization at a much faster flow [...]
