Who Needs Ionized Water?
The older you are the more your body needs ionized water. The reason is that after many years of using up all of your body's buffers, your body becomes depleted quickly and diseases set in unless you do something to provide it with its balance again. By balance, I mean both pH-balance as well as antioxidant-balance.
All adults and children, other than infants and toddlers, should drink alkaline ionized water as part of the healthiest diet possible [which is 50-80% alkaline and ionized].
The older a person is, the more likely it is that he/she will have depleted a good deal of their natural storage of pH-buffers. However, even children benefit from alkaline ionized water. I remember raising by youngest three children on alkaline ionized water and it was so much easier to keep them healthy than my oldest two children.
Why do We all Need Ionized Water? There are MANY reasons, but in this post I’ll focus on two of them: Alkalinity and Antioxidants.
The Right Alkalinity [PH-Balance]:
When our bodies consume water at the right alkalinity it helps us remove toxins from the body. By removing toxins we are setting ourselves up for a lifetime full of health for our cells.
Antioxidants [ORP…Oxidation Reduction Potential]:
Ionized water is It is antioxidant-water, and so helps fight free-radicals. When our bodies consume water at the right levels of ORP [antioxidant-levels] it allows us to properly fight free-radicals that otherwise would attack our cells. Getting a constant supply of antioxidants, versus a large dose here and there, makes the world of difference in keeping the body healthy.
Calcium in Ionized Water:
We’ve talked about this in other articles, but basically the calcium in water is considered “dietary calcium”. Dietary calcium has been found to be far, far healthier for the body than any other form of calcium. The fact of also being negatively charged makes the calcium additionally more absorb able than any other form of calcium.
What Happens as Ionized Water Goes Through the Stomach?
Ionized water will lose a little of it’s alkalinity, for instance if it started out 9.5 it would be likely to be 8.5 pH by the time it exits the stomach. The fact of it coming into contact with the 4 pH stomach will do this, but otherwise the ionized water will retain all of its ORP [antioxidants]. The antioxidant benefits of ionized water are the subject of thousands of articles and testimonials. There is no better natural antioxidant than the antioxidants found in ionized water. Plus, since you sip it all day long, verses taking it in large periodic doses, the antioxidants you get in ionized water is a lot more usable by and healthful for the body.
What Happens as Ionized Water Enters the Blood Stream?
As ionized water enters the bloodstream it brings with it buffers to be used in allowing the acidic toxins to be removed from cells and safely eliminated. All people have a survival demand made by the blood to be exactly 7.365 pH. Because of this the blood is limited in its ability to remove toxins from the cells. If there is an ongoing supply of readily available buffers acidic toxins won’t be trapped in cells for very long, and it becomes healing-water. Cleaning out the cells of all toxins [acids] is crucial to maintaining a long and healthy life.
