The Spartan Ionizer Shield water treatment and filtration system is designed to greatly improve the quality of the water before it goes into your water ionizer. It can be installed before any water ionizer – either above of below the counter.

The Spartan will help eliminate your drinking-water-quality concerns, while also protecting your machine against scale build-up. Each media and technology in the Spartan is designed to work synergistically with the other media to help you achieve optimal results.

Because water quality varies so widely, it isn't possible to determine exactly how long your filters will last. The more TDS (total dissolved solida) in your water, the faster the media will expire, however by the laws of averages we have these suggestions to help you predict best filter-changing times.

Hardness/TDS of 100/300 ...change annually.
Hardness/TDS of 150/450 ...change every thousand gallons or 10 months.
Hardness/TDS of 200/600 ...change every 900 gallons or 9 months.
Hardness/TDS of 250/750 ...change every 800 gallons or 8 months.
Hardness/TDS of 300/900 ...change every 700 gallons or 7 months.

It would be unlikely that your water quality would exactly match this chart. However this just gives you an idea. The true test is when you are running your water ionizer, if you notice any kind of flow-rate slow-down, then it would be time to change the filters.
